A tragic love affair...just what I needed to start my day with...
Sighs in longing pain.
Today started like every other morning, got up, did the fur kids' routine (cuddle, feed, walk) while my laptop was warming up; got my tea cup set and ready to go and while passing the table, grabbed up my issue of "Pipes & Tobacco" magazine which had arrived Friday. Only time for a brief glance, but there was one featured artist who's work caught my eye; Michael Parks, whom studied art, is an active outdoorsman and Canadian.
Decided to visit his website and right off the bat saw this:
Wow, most cool. Certainly more inspiration then needed to start perusing the artist's gallery...more "wows" and "sighs" until...
Oh. My. Gods.
My breath was taken away on instant, for I saw something incredible. The smoothness, the flow...the color...magnificent!
I needed to see more, visit the gallery of images of this one-of-a-kind, original piece. The artists describes it thusly:
"In my mind it resonates of animal characteristics and bone-like structures with its flowing forms."
Yes. Exactly! Right off it struck my as that, it's "bone-like" qualities. I've a thing for bones myself; their flowing perfection, simplicity, curves of nature; the structure within.
Details of the wood itself; the swirl of bird's-eye on the bottom...
Oof.
Of course the piece was sold away long ago. Would never have been able to afford it anyways. And yes, I know that many will think it an ugly thing, imagine that color, an olivish-grey, would throw off many, yet to me, it is thing of perfected loveliness, one which my hands ache just to search the curves of.
Ah well.
Sighs in longing,
Melissa
